Jon
SODERSTROM
FOR
MAYOR
The Housing Concession Initiative
offers a comprehensive approach
to housing affordability,
focusing on inclusivity,
sustainability,
and community
well-being.
Details:
The Housing
Concession Initiative
is NOT UPZONING:
it's for neighborhoods
that deserve
nicer bigger homes
for the people
who already live there,
maybe want
to buy a home,
or have a nice
bigger one,
that's still public,
so their family
finally
has enough space!
Also
some more
of the exact same
nice big homes
on real wide streets,
that have lots
of great public transit.
This is my plan
to quickly address
the need
for more
yet affordable,
housing
in San Francisco.
If you want it,
please vote for me:
Jon Soderstrom,
number 12
on
your your ballot;
Just
make sure
I’m
one of your first
three choices,
If you have to
vote for someone
else first.
My plan aims
to create
new housing
that is inclusive,
with uniform layouts
and standards,
and centered
on people,
and adaptable
for everybody.
Meeting Different
Housing Needs:
The initiative
“gets”
the different
housing needs
of all generations
and ages,
from low-income families
to higher-income
and
intentional
blended families,
as diverse
and lovingly inclusive
as San Francisco
does best!
It’s got
mixed-income
housing complexes
with the same layout
for everybody’s homes
who are going to live there.
Unit Types and Features:
The buildings
will have
a mix
of low-income
and higher-income apartments
all with the same hookups,
all with the same design
and features
—every one of them,
all big and nice.
Each unit will have
5 bedrooms,
3.5 bathrooms,
two dishwasher hookups,
and south-facing balconies,
for family gardens,
called the funny word
“potager”,
so a garden
for soup,
and hopefully
other stuff to eat. .
Consistent
Standardized Design:
The initiative
emphasizes
a uniform design
for all units
and buildings,
to make sure
they stay nice,
but fit
for lots
of different
people.
Funding:
Funding to pay for it,
comes from public money
and private money
to keep building
these housing commissions,
so we get to where
we all have enough.
Public-private partnerships
make sure
we know people
are following the rules
and we can check
to be sure.
Transparency
used to
mean this
a long time ago,
in a galaxy…
Aesthetic Design
for how it looks:
The design
makes sure
there’s natural light,
green spaces,
and welcoming streets.
Bright interiors,
and
private garden
balconies
for all units,
will add space
to hang outside,
but
sharing Bluetooth,
so your neighbors
don’t turn their music up,
because they don’t
feel like hearing yours,
either!
But good neighbors
can do that,
because
it’s a nice place to live,
for everybody !
Affordability
and Practicality:
To make housing affordable,
the lower-income homes
will already be finished
with all the appliances,
and additional hookups,
in case the family buys
a second dishwasher
or another cooktop
if ten people
are living
there together.
It CAN!
But
ten’s
definitely the max!
Other units
will be sold
as
ready-to-customize
shells,
allowing residents
to finish them
as they wish.
Conclusion:
The Housing Concession Initiative
offers a comprehensive approach
to housing affordability,
focusing on inclusivity,
affordability,
and
community
well-being.
